The EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus is a small, budget-friendly power station for phones, laptops, CPAP machines and Wi-Fi gear in an apartment or on a camping trip. It holds 286 Wh, puts out 600 W (1,200 W with X-Boost for simple heating devices), refills from the wall in about an hour and works as a basic UPS. It is not built for fridges or power tools, but it makes a good first unit.

On a full charge, the RIVER 3 Plus runs a CPAP with the humidifier off for about 35 hours, or four 8-hour nights. A Wi-Fi router and cable modem last about 10 hours, and a full-size fridge about 5.5 hours. Turn the heated humidifier on and the CPAP gets about 7 hours, a little short of a full night.
One device at a time, from a full charge. Devices that cycle on and off (fridges, freezers, heaters, pumps) use their average draw.
Battery Wh × 0.85 ÷ the device’s average watts. “Can’t run it” means the device needs more than 600 W or a start-up surge above 1,200 W. Try your own mix in the calculator.
A full answer for each device on the EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus: hours, start-up surge and other units to consider.
Pick this one if you want a small box that keeps a router, a CPAP and phones going through an evening outage, and you think you may want more later. It is the only station under 500 Wh in our data that takes an extra battery. Add an EcoFlow extra battery and it reaches 858 Wh, which stretches that fridge from about 5.5 hours to about 16.
Next to the Jackery Explorer 300 v2, it has twice the output (600 W against 300 W) and twice the surge (1,200 W against 600 W). That is enough to start a full-size fridge or a 7 cu ft chest freezer, which the Jackery cannot do. The BLUETTI Elite 30 V2 matches its 600 W, has more surge and weighs about a pound less. The RIVER 3 Plus answers with a third AC outlet and room to grow.
Skip it if you want to cook, boil water or heat a room. Coffee makers, microwaves, kettles and space heaters all pull more than 600 W. X-Boost lets simple heating devices up to 1,200 W run, but at that draw the battery is empty in minutes. It also has a single USB-C port, so a home with several USB-C laptops will be taking turns.
288 Wh · 300 W output · 8.2 lb
Pick the Jackery if you only power USB gear, a CPAP or a router and want the lightest box. It weighs 8.2 lb against 10.4 lb, has two USB-C ports and lasts about as long on small loads.
288 Wh · 600 W output · 9.5 lb
Pick the Elite 30 V2 if you charge laptops over USB-C. It has two USB-C ports rated up to 140 W and a 1,500 W surge, but it cannot add batteries.
