Can a power station run an induction cooktop (single burner)?

Updated
Short answer

Yes, if the station puts out at least 1,800 W. On high, a single burner averages about 1,080 W as it cycles, so a 1,000 Wh power station cooks for about 45 to 50 minutes and a 2,000 Wh unit for about 1.5 hours.

A plug-in induction burner heats the pan itself with a magnetic field, and it pulls its full rating while it heats. Our numbers use the Duxtop 9100MC, a common single burner rated 1,800 W on high. Once the pan is hot, the burner pulses on and off, so over a cook it averages about 60% of that, or about 1,080 W. Its lower power levels go down to 200 W and draw far less. Your burner's top wattage is on the label underneath or in the manual.

Output is the hurdle, and 15 of the 20 stations in our table can run a burner on high. The 286 to 499 Wh units stop at 300 to 600 W, and the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 stops at 1,500 W. The BLUETTI Elite 100 V2, BLUETTI AC180, EcoFlow DELTA 3 and DELTA 3 Plus are rated exactly 1,800 W, so on high they run at 100% of their output. Turn the burner down a level on those. A 20-minute cook on high uses about 360 Wh, so a 1,000 Wh unit gives about 45 to 50 minutes of cooking (2 such meals), the AC180 about 55 minutes and a 2,000 Wh unit about 1.5 hours.

A lower setting stretches the battery a lot. As an example, if your burner drew 1,000 W on a medium setting and cycled the same 60% of the time, it would average about 600 W, and a 1,024 Wh unit would cook for about 1.5 hours (1,024 Wh x 0.85 / 600 W). For a holiday meal in an outage, or a rental with no gas stove, plan simple dishes and save some battery for the fridge. In a long outage, a camp stove used outdoors is the better tool for daily cooking.

How long does each power station run an induction cooktop (single burner)?

At about 1,080 W on average, an induction cooktop (single burner) runs for about 45 min to 50 min on a 1,000 Wh-class unit (998–1,024 Wh) and about 3 hrs on the 4,096 Wh EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3. 5 units here can’t run it.

Estimate: battery Wh × 0.85 ÷ 1,080 W average (1800 W × 0.6 duty). Your model may draw more or less; check its label. Prices are typical ranges we checked by hand on October 9, 2026, not live prices.

Where these numbers come from

The popular Duxtop 9100MC is an 1,800 W burner with 15 power levels from 200 W to 1,800 W, so you can turn it down to suit your station. At medium settings it pulses on and off, so an hour of cooking often uses about 800 to 1,200 Wh.

Make it last longer

  • • Cook one-pot meals. Soup, chili or pasta in a single pot uses the burner once instead of for three separate dishes.
  • • Keep a lid on the pot. Water heats faster and the burner cycles off sooner.
  • • Bring food to a boil, then drop to a simmer instead of holding a rolling boil. A simmer setting draws a fraction of high.
  • • Turn the burner down a level on a station rated exactly 1,800 W, so it is not running at 100% of its output.
  • • Use flat-bottomed cast iron or magnetic steel pans. If a magnet sticks to the bottom, the pan works on induction.
  • • Run nothing else from the station while the burner is on high, and plug the burner straight into an AC outlet, not a power strip.

Common questions

How long will a 1,000 Wh power station run an induction cooktop?
About 45 to 50 minutes on high, with the burner averaging about 1,080 W as it cycles. Lower settings stretch that a lot.
Can a power station run an 1,800 W induction burner?
Yes, if its continuous output is 1,800 W or more. Units rated exactly 1,800 W, like the BLUETTI Elite 100 V2 and EcoFlow DELTA 3, run it at 100% of their output, so turn it down a level. The DJI Power 1000 V2 (2,600 W) and Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 (2,000 W) leave headroom.
Why does my power station shut off when I turn the burner to high?
On high, the burner asks for about 1,800 W, more than some stations can deliver. The Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 stops at 1,500 W. Use a lower setting or a station rated 1,800 W or more.
Can a 500 Wh power station run an induction cooktop?
Not on high. The Goal Zero Yeti 500 puts out 500 W, and the 300 Wh units 300 to 600 W, against about 1,800 W for a single burner on high.
How much power does an induction burner use for a meal?
About 360 Wh for 20 minutes on high, since the burner averages about 1,080 W. That is 2 such meals from a 1,024 Wh unit and 4 from a 2,000 Wh unit.
