Can a power station run a toaster (2-slice)?

Updated
Short answer

Yes, if the station puts out at least 1,200 W. Each 2 to 3 minute round of toast uses about 40 to 60 Wh, so a 1,024 Wh power station makes about 14 to 21 rounds per charge.

A toaster is a bare heating element, so it pulls its full rating for as long as the slices are down. Most 2-slice models land between 800 and 1,400 W, a few go up to 1,800 W, and our numbers use 1,200 W. There is no motor, so there is no start-up spike on top of that. The rating is printed on the label under the toaster or on its base, and that is the number to match against the station.

Output is the hurdle, and battery size sets how many rounds you get. The four smallest units in our table stop at 300 to 600 W, so none of them can run it. Every unit from the 1,000 Wh class up can. A round of 2 to 3 minutes uses about 40 to 60 Wh, which works out to about 14 to 22 rounds on a 1,000 Wh unit, about 16 to 24 on the 1,152 Wh BLUETTI AC180 and about 28 to 44 on a 2,000 Wh unit. Left on nonstop, a 1,000 Wh unit would last only about 40 to 45 minutes, which is why rounds are the better way to count.

Watch the label more than the battery. A toaster rated 1,800 W will trip the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2, which tops out at 1,500 W, and it leaves no room on the 1,800 W units. Four-slice toasters and toaster ovens draw more and are not in our numbers, so check their label before you plug them in. Toast is a small treat in an outage: about 14 rounds use most of a 1,024 Wh charge that could keep a fridge cold for about 19 hours.

How long does each power station run a toaster (2-slice)?

At about 1,200 W on average, a toaster (2-slice) runs for about 40 min to 45 min on a 1,000 Wh-class unit (998–1,070 Wh) and about 3 hrs on the 4,096 Wh EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3. 4 units here can’t run it.

Estimate: battery Wh × 0.85 ÷ 1,200 W average (1200 W × 1 duty). Your model may draw more or less; check its label. Prices are typical ranges we checked by hand on October 9, 2026, not live prices.

Where these numbers come from

Two-slice toasters draw about 800 to 1,400 W, and some models are rated up to 1,800 W. A toasting cycle takes only 2 to 3 minutes, so each use is about 40 to 60 Wh, but the station's AC output must be higher than the toaster's rating.

Capacity
1,070 Wh

Battery
LiFePO4, 4,000 cycles (to 70%)
Weight
23.8 lb
Wall charge
1 h 35 min
Solar input
400 W

Why it won: About 15 to 22 rounds of toast per charge from a 23.8 lb unit. Its 1,500 W output fits most 2-slice toasters, but not one rated above 1,500 W.

  • 1,500 W output runs a fridge, microwave or coffee maker one at a time
  • Light for its size at 23.8 lb, with a folding handle
  • Full recharge in about 95 minutes, or about 1 hour in emergency mode
  • App control plus a 20 ms UPS switch-over for routers and computers
  • Cannot add extra batteries
  • Only one USB-A port, and the second USB-C is 30 W
  • Jackery rates cycle life to 70% capacity, not 80%

Battery
LiFePO4, 4,000 cycles
Weight
25 lb
Wall charge
1 h 10 min
Solar input
1,000 W

Why it won: About 14 to 21 rounds per charge. Its 1,800 W output matches even an 1,800 W toaster, with no room left for anything else, and it refills from the wall in about 70 minutes.

  • 1,800 W output runs most kitchen appliances one at a time
  • Full recharge from a wall outlet in about 70 minutes
  • 25 lb, much lighter than the older AC180
  • 4,000-cycle battery rated for about 10 years of use
  • Cannot add extra batteries
  • 1,024 Wh will run a fridge for roughly a day, not several days
  • Reaching the full 1,000 W solar input takes several panels

Why it won: About 14 to 21 rounds per charge, with 2,000 W of output so a 1,200 W toaster leaves room for a second small load. It weighs 24.9 lb.

  • 2,000 W output runs a fridge, microwave or space heater
  • Refills from empty in under an hour from a wall outlet
  • 10 ms UPS switch-over protects a CPAP or computer
  • 4,000-cycle LiFePO4 battery in a compact 24.9 lb body
  • Capacity cannot be expanded, unlike the older C1000
  • Only one USB-A port
  • The 49-minute charge needs the app and a battery above 68°F

1,800 W

Why it won: About 29 to 43 rounds per charge from 2,048 Wh, with 3,000 W of output for bigger kitchen loads too.

  • 3,000 W output covers nearly every household appliance
  • Expands to 22,528 Wh with up to ten expansion batteries
  • Quiet (30 dB or less) and recharges to 80% in under an hour
  • Four USB-C (up to 140 W) and four USB-A ports, plus a 10 ms UPS
  • Heavy at 48.5 lb with no wheels
  • No 12V car socket; DC output relies on DJI SDC accessories
  • Solar and car charging need DJI's add-on chargers

Make it last longer

  • • Read the watts on the toaster's label first. If it is higher than the station's output, the station will shut off as soon as you press the lever.
  • • Use a lighter shade setting. A 2-minute round uses about 40 Wh, a 3-minute round about 60 Wh.
  • • Run nothing else big at the same time. A 1,200 W toaster on an 1,800 W station leaves only about 600 W for everything else.
  • • Plug the toaster straight into the station's AC outlet, not into a power strip or a thin extension cord.

Common questions

How many times can a 1,000 Wh power station run a toaster?
About 14 to 21 rounds of toast on a 1,024 Wh unit, counting 2 to 3 minutes per round at about 1,200 W. The 1,070 Wh Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 gets about 15 to 22.
Can a 300 Wh power station run a toaster?
No. The EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus and BLUETTI Elite 30 V2 put out 600 W, and the Jackery Explorer 300 v2 300 W, well under a 1,200 W toaster. Boost modes may run some heating devices at reduced power, so check the manual, but do not count on it.
Why does my power station shut off when I start the toaster?
The toaster asks for more watts than the station can deliver. An 1,800 W toaster trips a 1,500 W unit like the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2. Pick a station whose output is higher than the toaster's label.
How many watts does a toaster use?
Most 2-slice toasters draw about 800 to 1,400 W, and a few are rated up to 1,800 W. We plan on 1,200 W, which uses about 40 to 60 Wh per round.
Can a power station run a toaster oven or a 4-slice toaster?
Often yes, but they draw more than a 2-slice toaster and are not in our numbers. Read the watts on the label and choose a station rated above it, such as the 2,000 W Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 or the 3,000 W DJI Power 2000.
